Our History

December 1993- We started our organizational works to bring a high-quality service approach into the Turkish insurance industry with a focus on people and customer satisfaction.
28 March 1995- We completed incorporation procedures for Demir Hayat Sigorta A.Ş.
9 May 1995- We got a license from the Treasury for Life, Health and Personal Accident insurance lines.
17 May 1995- We issued our first policy ever under the name of Demir Hayat Sigorta A.Ş.
1 May 1995- We opened first agency of Demir Hayat Sigorta A.Ş.
24 July 1996- We were honored with an ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Certificate from the German RWTÜV in order to consolidate the importance we place on our quality service concept and customer satisfaction.
10 December 1997- We got Treasury approvals for SES Health Insurance product so that we launched in-house reinsurance, production and authorization services.
January 2002- Owing to the fast advancing technology, we moved from the system whereby authorizations were provided to contracted healthcare institutions over SYS and POS (a practice that had been in place in the industry since 1999) to direct online authorization system to make sure that our insured customers would get faster and better services.
29 January 2002- We secured the copyright for our famous Demir Hayat Sigorta "Wishes You a Good Day" slogan.
May 2005- Demir Hayat Sigorta managed to get the policy approval for In Vitro Fertilization Insurance, a new insurance product, which was another pioneering move in the Turkish insurance industry to meet the varying needs of our customers and the industry.
July 2006- The number of our insured customers reached more than 100,000.
2008- Demir Hayat Sigorta launched a hostess service in order to offer better services to our customers. These hostesses would guide and take care of our customers in hospitals.
April 2008- Once again we were proud to be a pioneer in the industry as we created first SSA usage incentive coverage.
April 2008- We celebrated the birth of 5,000 babies who were welcomed to this world as our insured.
17 May 2008- We spent the revenues from the theater play voluntarily staged by our employees for various social responsibility projects.
June 2008- We expanded our service network nationwide and the number of our contracted healthcare institutions exceeded 1200.
July 2008- We created a telemarketing team in order to find a larger audience for our industry-leading products, in particular, in the healthcare sector.
September 2009- We got a Treasury approval for Surgical Diseases Insurance, the one and only example in the industry so that our insured customers will enjoy more comprehensive protection against health risks.
1 May 2010- As we had a deeper insight into the market needs, we got the Treasury approval for Rainbow Health Insurance products where inhouse reinsurance, production, and authorization services were provided.
February 2011- By taking into account the needs of our insured customers to get fast treatment and healthcare services, we launched a barcode system in pharmacies to provide faster authorization.
December 2011- We completed the works to ensure harmonization with the Insurance Information and Monitoring Center.
September 2012- The number of contracted healthcare institutions exceeded 1600.
December 2013- We set up a Corporate Efficiency Department which serves corporate health insurance lines.
2014- We launched an Automatic Authorization Software Development Project (AASDP).
2014- Thanks to an overhauled Demir Hayat A.Ş. web site (www.demirsaglik.com.tr), we made it possible for the potential insured customers to get online price quotations over the system. We launched the means to compare the products that you wish to buy and to buy online policy instantly.
23 November 2016- Our company was 100% acquired by EMF Capital Partners from Demir Finansal Grup Holding A.Ş., our parent company since our day one.
January 15, 2019 - We announced the change of our company name from Demir Hayat Sigorta A.Ş. to Demir Sağlık ve Hayat Sigorta A.Ş.

Today, as Demir, we confidently look towards the future with approximately 365,000 valued policyholders, our employees, our business partners including our agents, and over 1800 contracted healthcare institutions spread across all of Turkey. We aim to enhance the quality of life and satisfaction of our policyholders with every service we provide.
